Towel draped along the white crystal sand, I lay gazing at the waves crashing along the shoreline. My hair danced in every direction with the rhythm of the wind, as if inviting me into the ocean to join the waves. Off in the distance stood my daughter, salty hair blowing, searching for the perfect seashells. These are just a few memories from our visit to Indian Shores Beach, Florida.
Whether you’re in Florida for a short work trip or planning your first Sunshine State adventure, this is a must-do destination. Throw your cares to the side, book the flight, and breathe in the salty ocean air. Palm trees line the coast, sunshine warms your skin, and the calming waves are a perfect reset.
Even science backs it up—just 10–15 minutes of sunlight each morning can boost your mood and overall well-being—another reason to find yourself in Florida, like yesterday.
Why You Should Visit Indian Shores Beach, Florida

Our trip wasn’t a well-planned vacation—it was a spontaneous mini-escape. I traveled with my daughter, her friend, and her friend’s mother. We chose Indian Shores Beach, located just 30 minutes south of Clearwater Beach.
We stayed for two nights, soaking in every moment. Our goal? A budget-friendly, family-focused Spring Break getaway that wouldn’t be crowded or overly complicated. Indian Shores Beach delivered perfectly.
Beach Days in Indian Shores Beach Florida: Waves, Seashells, and Relaxation

Every day was a beach day. Unlike some of Florida’s busier beaches, Indian Shores Beach Florida felt nearly private. We shared the sand with maybe ten others. The beach was calm, the sand warm, and the water sparkled under the sun.
Walking along the shoreline, my daughter and I searched for seashells—the ones perfectly shaped or multicolored, calling out “Pick me!” Some were lucky enough to find themselves new homes in our buckets.
The vibe of Indian Shores Beach was laid-back. I enjoyed watching the girls bodyboard the waves while I was soaking up the sun, chatting with her friend’s mother. Two mothers and two daughters, fully present, laughing, and enjoying each moment. This beach was pure happiness.
Planning your next Florida escape? Indian Shores Beach offers calm waters, family-friendly activities, and charming local spots—perfect for your mini getaway.
Highlights from Indian Shores Beach Florida

Our mini-escape wasn’t about rushing. Beyond beach views and sunny weather, we explored Gulf Boulevard, discovering candy shops and restaurants perfect for our short stay.
Fun Things to Do in Indian Shores Beach Florida
Candy Kitchen
Located just a short walk from the Indian Shores Beach, we found ourselves indulging in ice cream at the infamous Candy Kitchen. This place is iconic in every way. From the exterior, it looks like another candy store – but step inside, and you’ll travel back in time with nostalgic toys, long neck sodas, taffy, Pez candies, an unforgettable indulgent-sized KitKat, homemade fudge, and a wall where you get to leave your autograph. We did just that!
Smuggler’s Cove
If you love mini-golf, then you’ll love to stop by Smuggler’s Cove. It’s not just your regular mini-golf activity. You’re in Florida! So naturally, this means alligators are on the menu. At Smuggler’s Cove, for a small additional cost, you get to feed live baby alligators. They provide you with the mini-fishing rod and bait. Just cast it out and watch the alligators jump for their treats! Then continue on the path to try your mini-golf skills with the Florida sun beating down on you. Don’t forget your water bottle – it gets hot!
Where to Eat in Indian Shores, Florida
We kept meals simple with breakfast in our Airbnb and exploring local spots for lunch and dinner.

Salt Rock Grill
If you’re looking for delicious seafood, outdoor views, and impeccable service, find your way to Salt Rock Grill. We decided on some fine dining after a long 14-hour drive as a sweet treat.
Villa Gallace
The Villa Gallace is an Italian restaurant, and the food was delicious and quite filling. The prices were reasonable, and the staff was kind. But, once again, we made the quiet lively! We filled the restaurant with lots of laughter and enjoyment in conversations full of subliminal jokes.
Crabby Bill’s
Another great place to eat and enjoy the views is Crabby Bill’s. They serve a mix for just about anyone’s palate. We taste-tested this restaurant for lunch. I enjoyed the delicious Mahi-Mahi tacos; my daughter tried their coconut shrimp, as did her friend. The restaurant carries that beach vibe that just makes you want to do nothing more than eat, grab a drink, and lie out in the sun listening to the ocean singing. This was the most relaxed vibe restaurant out of our pickings. The prices here were very reasonable for lunch choices, and the views of the bay on the outdoor patio were perfect!
Those Unforgettable Moments

A beach mini-escape can be fast-paced or slow and relaxing. Our trip leaned into relaxation. Laughter, joy, and shared memories marked our stay.
On our first night, exhausted from the drive, we walked to a nearby restaurant for a late-night seafood dinner. Our laughter drew smiles and compliments from fellow diners, reminding us that joy is contagious—and memorable.
